Frequently asked questions
Clarity before
the first conversation.
Straightforward answers about fit, packages, personal tax services and getting started.
Is TaxBooks right for my business?
TaxBooks works with small and growing businesses that want dependable monthly books and connected tax support. A consultation helps us understand your accounting complexity, software and priorities before recommending a scope.
What is the difference between Essentials and Growth?
Essentials starts at $700/month for monthly bookkeeping, financial statements and an annual federal business return within scope. Growth starts at $950/month and adds a monthly financial and advisory meeting of up to 45 minutes, written next steps and defined business tax planning.
Is my personal tax return included?
Personal returns are not included in business subscriptions. Standalone preparation starts at $500. A separately engaged Personal Tax Advisory & Preparation package starts at $300/month and includes an annual personal return within scope.
Which accounting software do you use?
TaxBooks uses QuickBooks Online. During onboarding, we review your setup, access and any cleanup needed so the accounting workflow supports your service scope.
How do I get started?
Request a consultation. We discuss your business, review the level of support you need and agree on scope and pricing. The first conversation does not commit you to a package.
Do you work with sole proprietors and single-member LLCs?
Yes. Essentials and Growth can support sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, partnerships and corporations. Federal business preparation follows your tax classification and agreed scope. For a business reported on Schedule C, the complete personal Form 1040 is separately engaged; its quote accounts for business work already covered by your subscription.
What makes the package prices starting points?
Transaction volume, accounting complexity, entity structure and selected services affect the final fee. The published prices describe the 2027 package model. Your signed agreement defines the services, fee and delivery expectations.
Are onboarding and cleanup included?
Onboarding is typically $500–$1,500 depending on complexity. Historical cleanup is quoted separately. Software subscription fees are separate unless expressly included.
Does business tax planning include my personal estimates?
No. Business estimated-tax guidance and owner-level personal projections are different scopes. Personal estimated taxes, projections and comprehensive owner planning require a separate personal service engagement.
What is the difference between annual planning and ongoing personal advisory?
One-time planning is $750 for one projection, one meeting and a written action summary; return preparation is separate. Personal advisory and preparation starts at $300/month under a twelve-month agreement ($3,600 annually), with quarterly projections, scheduled reviews, defined email support, and one annual federal personal return plus one standard resident state return within scope.
Can you help if my books are behind?
We can discuss the work needed to bring your records into a workable starting position. Historical cleanup is separately reviewed and quoted before recurring service begins.
How are planning and advisory services staffed?
Engagement availability depends on team capacity. We confirm the responsible professionals, preparation and review responsibilities, meeting scope and timing before work begins.
Can I send tax documents through the consultation form?
No. Use the consultation step for general business needs only. Do not include tax identifiers, account numbers or financial documents. Document exchange is arranged separately after the appropriate workflow is established.
